It’s been a year since the Great Gravity Falls Hiatus of 2012 started.
Gravity Falls is chock-full of secret messages. I’ve created this blog to decode them.
The basic code for most (if not all) is “Three letters back,” which means in a code, put all letters back 3 spots in the alphabet. An example would be that D equals A, because A is behind D in the alphabet. If a letter goes behind A, then it goes to Z, then continues. For instance, A would translate to X. This code is found in the intro, which sounds like “I’m still here.” Played backwards, it says “Three letters back.”
At the end of the intro, it shows a very cryptic page of what seems to be in Dipper’s Book Vol. 3, filled with stories of the mysteries of Gravity Falls.
This image does not include explanations for the llama and the star. The llama is on one of Mabel’s many sweaters, which a wax statue told her to wear in Headhunters. I have yet to see the episode, so I have no idea what’s so special about the llama. The star with the eye is the symbol of Lil’ Gideon, a psychic boy who owns Book Vol. 2, apparently related to Dipper’s Book Vol. 3. The scarred heart is on the shirt of an “emo teen” character, who has yet to appear in an episode but has appeared in concept art. Also, I have no idea what the Konami Code is doing in there.
The first “3 letters back” code is also found here: VWDQ LV QRW ZKDW KH VHHPV. Decoding this tells us: STAN IS NOT WHO HE SEEMS. This is referring to Grunkle Stan, who entered a secret ice chamber at the end of the first episode. Gravity Fall’s show previews indicate that Dipper goes into this chamber and finds some brain… tentacle… monster? It’s creepy, but I have a really bad feeling that Stan turns into that monster.
This may be only a TV show that just started a week ago, but it has secrets. I’ll find them.
First post ever on the blog, from one and a half years ago. Let’s look at my previous theories.
"The llama is on one of Mabel’s many sweaters, which a wax statue told her to wear in Headhunters. I have yet to see the episode, so I have no idea what’s so special about the llama."
Llamas are nature’s greatest warriors. Larry King told me that
"The scarred heart is on the shirt of an “emo teen” character, who has yet to appear in an episode but has appeared in concept art."
This is a fellow we know as Robbie.
"Also, I have no idea what the Konami Code is doing in there."
Because Hirsch likes to have fun.
"Gravity Fall’s show previews indicate that Dipper goes into this chamber and finds some brain… tentacle… monster? It’s creepy, but I have a really bad feeling that Stan turns into that monster."
Stan’s secret chamber is unrelated to ice. It is unlikely that Stan is the brain monster.
It’s just a little, but look how far we’ve come.
A small preview of Candy Monster shows the creature in the
closetrafters that tries to steal Dipper and Mabel’s candy
i voice acted my famous who is stan response
he’s advertising his gold-buying company
Stanley MOBILE oh wow i kept reading it as stanley mabel hah that makes more sense
But I am aware of this theory. I’m unsure of it’s truth. I’m neutral, I guess. We’ll wait and see what Season 2 has to offer.
In Gideon’s book you can see that on the circle around Bill Cipher has three exclamation marks (!!!) pointed at glasses. Many have thought that the glasses symbol as well as the claw symbol represent Stan Pines. But why would 2 symbols represent one character? The truth is: they’re not. The claw symbol in Bill Cipher circle matches the claw symbol on Stan Pines’ fez. But the only characters that wear glasses are Stan and sheriff Blubs. Since Stan is already represented by claw symbol, he is not represented by the glasses. And sheriff Blubs actually wears sunglasses, so the glasses symbol would have to be colored in black to represent him. My theory, actually, is that the glasses character is not yet introduced. But we can see his glasses being picked up by Stan in the following video (Episode: Carpet Diem):
Soos discovers a secret room in The Mystery Shack. Dipper looks under the carped to see that it says Experiment 78. Stan denies that he knows anything about the room, but takes the glasses at the same time. And the glasses are really similar to the ones seen on the circle. That proves that Stan know who that character is and that he might have been in the same secret society as Stan. And that character might be the only one that can stop Bill Cipher since the writer of the book considers him very important (!!! pointing at him).
So tell us what do you think. Could Stan know the glasses character? Did the glasses character use the carpet to switch minds with Stan Pines because Bill was looking for Stan? Could the real Stan be imprisoned by the glasses character? Write your comment below.

Hmm, well, you never know? It could be someone we haven’t met yet, true…
